Parkway Animal clinic is now offering a low cost alternative for pain management for arthritic patients, acute injuries, post surgery healing and more. The laser uses light to jump-start the healing process, increase blood flow and decrease inflammation and pain.

How does it work?

Laser Therapy (also called Light Therapy) uses electromagnetic energy to interact chemically and biologically with the tissues causing "photobiostimulation". In a sense the laser works on tissue the same way the sun works for a plant during photosynthesis, to stimulate the "healing cells," boost recovery, and shorten healing time. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain.

Our laser allows us to concentrate that energy and target it to the specific area we are treating. Each patient has his or her own treatment plan developed by Dr.Sutton to fit the individual need. Generally a series of up to 3-6 treatments, 24-48 hours apart, are necessary depending on the severity of the case. Treatments will generally take anywhere from 2.5 minutes to 10 minutes each visit.

Cats are particularly sensitive to some medications, so there are fewer pain management options available for the feline patient. Laser treatment provides a safe solution for them.

Owners are allowed to remain in the room during treatment but will be provided with safety glasses.

Some of the advantages to using Laser Therapy are:

  • No blood work required like with some medications
  • Safer than most drugs with almost no side effects
  • Not harmful to liver or kidneys
  • Treatments are quick, painless and owners can help
  • Cost efficient
  • Does not "mask" pain, it actually promotes healing
  • Speeds up recovery/ healing time

A new non-invasive way to manage conditions such as:

  • Back and joint pain
  • Sprains and strains
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Arthritis
  • Intervertebral disc disease
  • Injuries and wounds ( including hot spots )
  • Lick granulomas

      And much more

Great Clinic with wonderful staff. They treat animals with great attention and always make a follow up phone call to make sure things are going well. I highly recommend them!

This is a really good Vet.! I used to come here for my cat. And they were always careful and thorough with examinations and explanations. They didn't just try to force all the immunizations on your animal.

I used to take my cat back and forth to Asia and they took care of all the paper work and made sure exams were correct. I never had any problems with the traveling.

It's a small place so you get really good service and they have been around for well over 10 years, maybe longer! If I ever get another pet I will continue to come here.
